Synopsis
Six women attend a life drawing class, observing and capturing a female model who alternates between long and short poses. As time passes, the same body is drawn again and again, allowing the women to learn more about the body they are looking at, helping each other create their own distinct images along the way.
The short experimental film attempts to breathe life into the painting "L’Atelier des Femmes" by Jacques Bree (1833), staging a tableau vivant that can portray a female led life drawing class.
Director's statement
Inspired by Anne Marie Wadlow's research thesis Women looking at looking at Women, this project attempts to continue her legacy of collective feminism, creating a personal interpretation of women coming together to collectively investigate their own image.
